The Reversed Edition

I was once reading the Revised Standard Version of the Bible and my brother walked up and said, “Is that the Reversed Edition?” We laughed for ten minutes straight at his silly joke. He was actually poking fun at all of the new versions of the Bible that are sometimes a little too much. Over the years, however, the joke has taken on a more serious position in my thinking. I have come to the conclusion that most humans on earth have a reversed view of God and that has caused a great falling away as well as having disastrous results in society in general.
One recent episode has shed light on this type of reversed theology. James Jay Lee, an eco-terrorist, has made the news by taking people hostage in the Discovery Center only to be fatally shot by police. Lee fell into the trap of believing non-scientists, such as Al Gore, who act like they are scientists. This was a man who believes that Humans are just parasites on the earth and that we need to eliminate this menace from the face of the earth. There are now entire organizations dedicated to this type of warped thinking. Some throw paint on people’s fur coats, some burn houses down and many write text books! Al Gore even won a Nobel Peace Prize for his uneducated and erroneous science of manmade global warming. How is it that people can come up with such idiotic propositions? The answer; reversed theology.
In their backward type of thinking, human beings evolved out of whack and became parasites. We are now out of balance with the normal eco-system of give and take. It appears that humans just “take” and never give. Actually they are not far off on this aspect; they just do not understand one thing; that’s how it is supposed to be!
In reality, we did not evolve since nothing ever evolved. We were created by God and we were created to “take”. Don’t get me wrong here. We were not created to be irresponsible, but we were created to have dominion over the earth and the earth is here to serve human beings. Human beings are here to serve God. I often ask people a simple question: “What are weeds for?” They usually get it wrong. The answer is that weeds are here to preserve the ground until a man is available to till the soil. That’s it. This earth was created to be of service to mankind and that is the end of that. The earth is not here of its own volition. It was placed here for an important purpose and that is where the reversed edition comes in to play.
James Lee and Al Gore have a severe case of reversed theology. If the earth really evolved then they would actually be correct that we should reduce the human population and let the earth go on through its cycles of life and death with no purpose but to just go on rotating. If, however, the earth did not evolve but was indeed created, then you can see how the earth actually has a divine purpose to serve human beings for the end purpose of us serving God. In other words the earth wouldn’t even be here if its purpose was not defined by the Creator. Some one who understands this will of course treat the earth with respect and take care of God’s creation. I, myself, get fuming mad when I see someone polluting or otherwise destroying the earth, but that is because I have a healthy respect for nature and the idea of basic responsibility. On the other hand if I were just some evolved product then would I not just seek to suck up as much as possible of the earth until it devours me? So I lay two choices before you. You can live like you have purpose in the presence of God Almighty or you can assume that you are nothing but a parasite and kill yourself to preserve the other organisms that are much more important than you are. Unfortunately, even if you do not take extreme positions as such stated, you will still eventually end up in one camp or the other by default. It is your choice, but as for me and my family “we will serve the Lord”.
