Detroit…in a test tube – Richard Joseph

I was born in Detroit in 1960 to a poor family with eleven kids. We subsisted off of welfare and hand-outs from our extended family. However, every one of us kids grew up to be honest tax paying citizens with jobs. Being poor made things rough and we are certainly thankful for a nation that is compassionate enough to not let their poor people starve to death but for us to stay in that state of being would be the real tragedy. No one in our family ever waited for a politician to promise us prosperity by steeling our neighbor’s money and giving it to us. We knew that, in the old America, we were all responsible for our own lives.

Our lives dramatically changed in 1967 when the riots started. I never did blame the black population for rising up from the oppression that the Democrats had put on them. If somebody told me to sit in the back of the bus I would have started a riot right then and there. So how is it that the black population got hoodwinked into supporting the very institution that has enslaved them for so long? Perhaps a short historical view might clear some of it up, but not all of it.

In 1854 a group of abolitionists got together in Jackson, Michigan and formed a political party that would fight against slavery. They called it the Republican Party. This forced most of the pro-slavery people into the Democratic Party. The Democrats then swore that if a Republican ever took the office of the Presidency they would secede from the Union.

Six years later the most unlikely thing happened. A not well known country lawyer from the muddy frontier town of Springfield, Illinois won the Republican primary and went on to win the White House in 1860. The election of Abraham Lincoln was the tipping point for all of those that dreamed of a country that would have perpetual slavery for blacks. Since the south depended heavily on slave labor they were not inclined to just emancipate the free workforce that they had enjoyed for so long. Besides that, black slaves gave every southern gentleman, and belle, a standard of which to measure their miserable lives by; no matter how lowly they were, they were always better than the “Negros”. The Democrats had thought that they had secured eternal slavery with the Dred Scott case but this only emboldened the Republicans to work harder. The liberal judge in the Dred Scott case concluded in 1857, that a black cannot become an American Citizen even if he was born in the United States. This basically said that blacks have no future in the United States of America.

The Democrat lead south kept their word. By the time Lincoln took office the secession had already started. They formed the Confederate States of America in which slavery would forever be legal. They then fired upon Fort Sumter officially starting the American Civil War.

With the strong and steady hand of Abraham Lincoln, the north eventually won the Civil War and the Republican Party officially ended slavery by adding the 13th amendment to the constitution (they also added the 14th and 15th amendments). The southern whites in Democratic strongholds were not happy about that so they formed the KKK and started what is called the Jim Crowe laws. These laws stayed into effect for the next 100 years until Martin Luther King Jr. rose up and exposed the un-justification to the nation. African Americans had been forced to be second class citizens, and we all know the story.

This is the period that I experienced first hand as the bustling downtown Detroit became a war zone. Houses and businesses went up in flames, a large brick came crashing through our front picture window and violence was everywhere. We, and thousands of others, fled for other towns. This and other previous events set in motion many civil rights bills.

Actually these bills were around since the late 1800’s but were blocked by the Democrats. Finally around 1958 under Republican President Dwight D. Eisenhower and a strong showing from Republicans in congress laws began to be passed. This continued throughout the 1960’s and even into the 1970’s. These bills were fought against tooth and nail by many of the Democrats. The Republicans finally out voted them and the bills were passed. But that isn’t the end of it.

Since the Democrats lost their bid for eternal slavery and the Jim Crowe laws, and the civil rights bills to fail, they now attempted, and were successful with one last ditch effort to keep African Americans second class citizens. They promoted a welfare state and dumbed down education. One of the biggest lies ever perpetuated by the Democrats is that they got millions of poor blacks to believe that they can become financially successful by getting hand outs. If you visit Detroit today you will see the carnage that this caused. By doing this they were sure to gain the allegiance of the black vote and have kept it unto this day. This put Detroit, and other large cities, in a test tube.

Having a science background I understand this very well. When you perform a scientific experiment, the object is to control all of the ingredients and the environmental conditions. That way you know exactly what the factors are that produced your result. In the case of Detroit, you have complete Democrat governance running the city for the past 50 years. So the formula is:
Democrats + inaccurate historical education + promise of free stuff=POVERTY.

This cannot be any cleaner of an experiment. I do not need to right a conclusion to this article because you can go anytime and visit Detroit. But please do not do it unless you are at least my age because you will not have any reference point to start out with. I have one and I can see the difference. The quality of life that the Democrats have produced in Detroit is near a third world nation. My only question is this; Can anybody please tell me why a black person would ever vote for a Democrat? However, before you answer, please read Wayne Perryman’s book “Unfounded Loyalty”. Hopefully the book will give you a good reference point to start with.
